Wer mehr über die nahe Vergangenheit Kefaloniás erfahren möchte, dem wird der Roman "Captain Corellis Mandoline" von Louis de Bernières empfohlen, welcher übrigens von Hollywood auch unter dem selben Titel zu einem Film verarbeitet wurde.
If you want to know more about Kefaloniás history during WWII you should read Louis de Bernières´ book "Captain Corellis Mandolin", which was also made into a film of the same title.

There is also a book available with interesting watercolour pictures of some more hidden sites of the island, by Hildegard Süß and Katja Meilicke, named "Inseltage".
